Woodford Greeners
Woodford Greeners is a volunteer-led community gardening group based in....you guessed it...Woodford Green! We first came together in March 2022 when local neighbours found they had lots of unused flower and veggie seeds going to waste in their sheds. We arranged a free Seed Swap event at the James Leal Cafe in Ray Park and found a whole community of keen gardeners in the area. We all agreed that much of the community space in the neighbourhood was sorely neglected. Planters were full of litter and broken glass, fences and walls along the high street were falling down, weeds and nettles were taking over many of the green spaces around Snakes Lane East. So we decided to do something about it, and in our first 6 months we have grown to a 20+ strong army of eager gardening volunteers! We've already spruced up the planters along the high street, in front of Ray Lodge School and by the park cafe. We've also held a number of events including a free Seedling Swap, Composting and Willow Weaving workshops, a summer gardening club for under 5's at Orchard Children's Centre, as well as a fantastically popular Apple Press Day which had over 80 participants, including many local children.

About Woodford Greeners: This is a local community group that have crowdfunded to create a community garden. A fantastic initiative driven by local people. You can find more information on their website.

About task: A variety of tasks such as clearing, weeding, sowing, planting and so on will be on offer.

What to wear: Wear weather appropriate gear, warm and waterproof layers are always good. It can and probably will get muddy so take that into consideration.

Timings: The working group is there from 10 to 15.00, however you can pop in at any point as any amount of time will be helpful

Please register: It would massively help the group if you could also register here to help them manage the plan of tasks - click here to register.

Directions: The garden is inside the walled garden in the Ray's Park - the entrance door is located straight ahead if you are walking from the cafe towards it. What 3 words link - parks.pram.park
