Metro Blind Sport is a Charity supporting people living with or at risk of sight loss. Their vision is, to open the doors to sport and physical activity for all blind and partially sighted people in London. They recognise that volunteers play an essential role, helping us to achieve their vision.

Sign up now to be a Tennis Volunteer at their annual Tennis Tournament on Sunday 9th February.

How you will make a difference:

You will support our blind and partially sighted tennis players to take part in the sport they love. By volunteering you provide an opportunity for blind and partially sighted people to lead an active lifestyle, reduce social isolation and lead fulfilling lives.

Main Aspects of the role:

To guide our players around the court and the facility.
To work as a ball person in training and tournaments.
To support the tennis players to have fun and progress their skills.
To join in on the tennis activities supporting tennis players.
To support with the set up of courts in readiness for play.
To help collect equipment, before, during and after play.
Help improve self-esteem for people with sight loss.
To help with handing out lunch, equipment and forms.

Skills, experience and qualities needed:

An awareness of the sight loss sector is preferable but not essential.
A willingness to learn.
Confidence to support members on a one to one basis.
Good communication skills.
The ability to initiate face to face conversation
You need to be comfortable volunteering in an environment where guide dogs may be present
