For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!
Compostworks is an amazing organisation based in Liverpool, led by the fabulous Minna Alanko-Falola, which runs community composting schemes in neighbourhoods across Liverpool. If you sign up to the scheme, you can take your household compostable waste to one of their bins dotted around the city. When the waste has rotted down into compost, this is then available for community gardens or for individual members to use, giving rubbish a new life!
We're going to be helping this great initiative at their Linnet Lane site. The task is (1) to 'turn' the composting material in the bins, which means stirring it around to circulate air and help the bacteria, and (2) to dig mature compost out of one of the bins and in to sacks so that it is available for community members to use.
There is only so much space around the compost bins so this task is limited to just 3 people, and should be a quick task so we have set an expected duration of 30 minutes, but if it is a success then hopefully we'll be able to do more tasks like this in the future. If this task doesn't work for you, feel free to check out Compostworks anyway and see if there are any bins in your area!
