Report written by Gill (She/her)
When I arrived at Miss N's home she was worried that I would be put off helping her with her garden as it was so overgrown. I have done many social missions, but I wasn't prepared for the fact that the brambles and nettles had grown so much it was struggle to get the back door open. But after some effort we managed to push the door back on the weeds and I edged outside. Yes... the weeds were Haigh... no it was not going to put me off. Although I did point out that I would not be able to clear it all today but would do as much as I could I the allowed hour and a half. Miss N and I got chatting as I worked and she told me about her daughters and her grandchildren - explaining that she was a grandma. I shared that I am a Nana and she laughed. She said what she was longing to find was a mint plant growing somewhere under the overgrowth and that in Hebrew mint is called Nana. I assured her I would do my best to look out for it and not cut it back. . It was a tough gig, but I soon got to grips with hacking back the brambles and nettles and after discovering a lot of lavender eventually smelt the unmistakable fragrance of mint. I think I've found Nana I shouted and Miss N was overjoyed. She was also immensely pleased with the progress I made on the weeds, and the space I had created. After putting several bags of weeds into the bin I wished her well, and left her to make a cup of mint tea with Nana.
