In what is becoming a bit of a regular place to help out now we all turned up at the lovely Royate Hill Community Orchard ready for action (apologies if it wasn’t easy to find us 😬).

There was a mixture of tasks to be done from shifting, to finding the path to enlightenment (I think it was clearing a path?), to moving mulch around under the watchful eye of the chickens. Welcome to Marianne joining us for the first time today :)

The time flew past and at the end we had some thirst quenching apple juice from the whale mugs before saying our farewells. We are back again next Sunday at the same time so hope to see you again.

Until next time.

Royate Hill Community Orchard
A volunteer-run growing project applying permaculure principles

The orchard has a long history starting with winning a champain to keep the allotment site from turning it into a housing site. We are all volunteers who enjoy spending time outside and learning about gardening techniques based on permacuture principles. The coordinator of the project is Mike Feingold who oversees the two areas rented by the community project. We grow annual and perennial vegetables which we share with volunteers and community food groups. We also propagate plants, graft trees, make apple juice and other land-based educational activities. We run 2 monthly workdays where everyone is welcome to drop in with no prior experience expecting fom them.
