Report written by Kash
Two specialists from Ealing had been summoned to South Acton to investigate the haunted flat of Mr G: IT technician Sevan and a professor of cryptography Kash. The place looked very suspicious: the doors were closed shut, and ringing the doorbell and Mr G's phone were met with silence. Kash knocked on the door, which eventually summoned Mr G.
While Sevan stayed with Mr G to solve the case of the haunted printer, Kash was given a set of labels that contained the clues to find Knight Templars' treasure. She looked at the labels and immediately saw that they were a puzzle.
The letters assembled into a word: SAINSBURYS! Kash ran to the supermarket, hoping to find more clues there. She visited all the aisles where she could locate the products from the labels. She tried to discover hints encoded in the expiry dates, hidden at the back of the shelves, or covered by the outer sleeves of the packaging - to no avail.
There was one mysterious piece of paper in Mr G's label set without a product name or picture on it, only the barcode. Kash found a cryptography expert in Sainsbury's who interpreted the code as Chicken Kiyv tray bake - an item Kash already had in her basket! The code was not even a cod - it was a red herring!
Kash went to the checkout where she discovered a loose label that had fallen off the rest: cavolo nero. It was made of soft plastic, so Mr G used to stick it to the sturdier paper piece - the one that had only the barcode on it. The ghost from Mr G's flat must have played with her so that she wasted too much time in Sainsbury's, prevented from teaming up with Sevan to undo the ghost's pranks! Kash returned for cavolo nero for Mr G, then ran back to his flat to unveil the real mysteries that needed solving.
