Team south covered all the streets in 3 mapped areas in Fulford in the south of York, marking all the benches on maps as they ran. This was to help Age Friendly York to work out where new benches or replacements are needed. David and Michael headed off down to the far end of Fulford and found a bonus 5 benches despite none being marked on their map. Jackie and Dan headed off down the main street and around the river path and found their 9 marked benches and a bonus 3. Tom and Laura found their 6 marked benches and a bonus 7, thanks to several play areas. Several of the teams found benches that were swamped by grass and weeds which made them unusable. Another community mission possibly!

To map benches in the Micklegate Ward

Looks at how York does to make the place an age friendly city through World Health Organisation checks. Age Friendly York is currently looking at Getting Out And About and residents are saying they need benches to break up their journey so they can get to the shops and other places.
