Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice
6 Goodgym runners joined us at the Packington Gallery Foodbank yesterday evening to assist with flyering for the Arc Centre, Islington. Ernestas had just helped Trainer Simon with our weekly cleaning of the food bank, and stayed for a second task. Steve was able to get away from marking student papers to come and help us. Ellie and Katie arrived together, and Hanry ended up running 6km in 26 minutes to get here in time (and he wasn't out of breath!).
The Arc Centre has been an essential local hub between Angel and Islington throughout the lockdown, offering community services and a busy foodbank for the neighbourhood (click here for more information: https://www.thearccentre.org/). Our task was to deliver flyers promoting the centre (offering a resident survey in return for a free coffee at Big Shot Coffee) to as many households as possible along Essex Road.
Trainer Simon printed a few simple maps for our runners, so we could track which houses had been flyered already. Katie and Ellie started around Islington Green (towards Angel), while Steve, Ernestas and Hanry made their way towards Canonbury. We shifted almost an entire box of flyers in less than an hour, and the Arc Centre were thrilled with our progress.
We will be back again next week for a task at Barnard Adventure Playground!
