**When Life Gives You Manure, Makeโ€ฆ Well, Compost! ๐Ÿ’ฉโžก๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ

What a night at Brixton Waterworks allotments! We had a plot twist (see what we did there? ๐ŸŒฟ) with a late session change, but that just meant we got to meet the absolute legend that is Jane - who at just shy of 90 is still out there gardening when the sun goes down. Talk about growing old gracefully! ๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ’ช

**The Leadership Shovelshuffle

With AA Yianny stuck crawling down the motorway (probably behind someone doing 20mph in a Fiat Panda), our superhero Fi stepped up to lead the troops. She really rose to the occasion - unlike Yiannyโ€™s speedometer! ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

**Getting Down and Dirty

The crew got stuck in with: โˆ™ ๐Ÿ’ช Shovelling manure (proof that weโ€™re not afraid of a crappy situation!) โˆ™ ๐Ÿšœ Barrowing it about (wheely hard work!) โˆ™ ๐ŸŽ Apple picking for those nursing dodgy backs (the core of our operation) โˆ™ ๐Ÿช“ Clearing Janeโ€™s plot of chopped trees (we really branched out!)

**The Results

By the end, weโ€™d shifted an enormous amount of green waste ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ - enough to make even the compost heap jealous!

Big thanks to Annick and Jane for having us. We had a growing good time! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ˜„

Remember: We came, we sawed, we mulched! ๐ŸŽ‰โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹

This task supported
Brixton Windmill
A little bit of history in central Brixton!

The Friends of Windmill Gardens (FoWG) were formed in 2003 with three aims: * to get the Grade II listed Brixton Windmill restored and opened for public visits โ€“ in 2002 it had been put on English Heritage's buildings at risk register; * to make Windmill Gardens park a more welcoming space for local people; * to have a new education centre at the windmill. Windmill Gardens gained a Green Flag Community Award in 2015 and we have just been judged again so our fingers are crossed that we will retain the award for the next two years.
