A different Wednesday, a different outcome.

Sam ran over from home after checking on his kitten to find a few GoodGymers waiting for him and the moment of truth....will we be allowed in Old Spike Peckham after being locked out last week? Yes we were!

Tonight, it would be a chilled session as Sam had the flyers the team had to deliver and the area where they had to flyer was only a 1.5k run away. Andrada, Daryl, David, Emma, Louise, Nathan, Nelly, Paulin and Rosalind met Sam in the warmth of Old Spike as they took time with the ice-breaker question tonight.

Sam asked: On Friday, is International Women's Day, my question:

To those that identify as "Male" or non-binary, at my work there's a campaign called "have you noticed her?". Who's a female talent that you have noticed breaking barriers? In your life or in the media (or both). To those who identify as "Female" or non-binary this year's topic is about an inclusive workforce - any tip(s) for your male colleagues to make you feel included at work? However, you can answer either or both questions - this is not gender exclusive questions.

We had a good 10-15 minute chat about noticing influential women in our lives both personally and in the media plus we gave tips on making great strides to feel more inclusive from transparency to active listening and understanding. These are just some of the tips we can take forward.

Afterwards, Paulin needed to get herself recorded for her Run Leader training, so Sam took a video of her doing the warm-up before we ventured through the streets of Peckham, East Dulwich and up Champion Hill.

Low batteries and counting buses

At the top of Champion Hill, Sam took out the GROAD flyers and assigned Daryl, Emma and Paulin as team leaders as there were three areas that needed to be targeted:

All the teams had 30 minutes to deliver all the flyers whilst Sam waited at the bus stop for them to come back. During this time, his phone died due to low batteries and he counted and did an unofficial survey for TFL - it's a well service bus stop with 11 buses coming in 30 minutes.

Everyone came back on time and Sam led the way back after as we were in a rush to start the monthly social, which was at Brick Brewery Taproom. What a great way to end the night!

Thank You to all the GG-ers

A personal thanks from me to all those who came out on Wednesday night! It was great to be back at Old Spike Peckham. Thanks to everyone for contributing to our IWD conversation. Thank you to Steve for backmarking both runs and kudos to everyone for getting stuck in. Another warm welcome to Louise for backmarking both runs. Another great social, this time at Brick Brewery Taproom, where almost all of us enjoyed the tacos and Latin flavours as well as the beers!
