4 Goodgymmers put on their best glad rags and vogued their way down to Traid for an evening of spilt tea!

Howdy Corner

Big GGHaringey Howdy to David, an GGIslington regular who joined us for his first Haringey outing. An absolute pro, he fit in like a pair astronaut llama leggings on a Goodgymmer. Hope to see you again soon.

Houston, we have a prob-llama

Nowadays, GGHaringey have the Traid task game down to a T. We could possibly do it with our eyes closed now so it was no surprise we breezed our way through clearing the shop floor of all clothes and coat hangers.

We passed the time by quizzing David gently about his GG life, and also by spilling some very spicy tea by some of our GGH veterans. But you had to be there for that particular round of goss.

A pair of psychedelic blue leggings of a rainbow astronaut llama inspired an impromptu rendition of Major Tom by Gramps (I'm sure it was that, my notes get blurry here ;) but everyone was immediately rescued from this auditory waterboarding by the team at traid who entrusted with now filling the new book cases.

Some of the tiles elicited some risque laughs from our Goodgymmers (we'll always have ISBN-13: ‎ 979-8467193809) but the less we speak of that, the better.

We then wrapped up with some full length mirror selfies and off we went into the night in search of further Ks for Strava by David, and a second task of the evening for everyone else. We were in such good moods, no one even mentioned the diluvial rain.

TRAID (Textile Reuse and International Development) is a UK charity working to tackle and solve the problems caused by producing, consuming and disposing of clothes. We do this by providing convenient ways for the public to reuse clothes while delivering education to people of all ages to raise awareness of the powerful environmental and social benefits of reducing our clothing footprint. The funds we raise are committed to global projects benefiting the people and places making our clothes. The work we support aims to improve environmental and social outcomes from supporting cotton farmers grow organic cotton to helping retailers to eliminate child labour in their supply chains. Most of the funds are raised through our charity shops, and in order to do so, we hold five Sale periods a year across our eleven branches, these last approximately 2-3 weeks. The last day of the Sale, after closing time, we need to pack the leftovers and leave the shop clear for it to be restocked the following day, here is where your teams can be of much help.

I do love a bit of TRAID. They are so appreciative, and offering us an umbrella was an act of kindness.
