Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
Two hardy goodgymers, that's Sol and myself, were delighted to welcome Caroline and Claire to our regular Friday evening session at the Community Allotment. Together with Sue, the task owner, we've wheeled out the wheelbarrows and set to shifting soil from one old raspberry bed to a new one, and from a hippo bag to yet another vegetable bed, across the car park. Many hands made light work, and within the hour, the soil was shifted. All along we were closely being watched by the resident robin, Mr Fluffy, which now has company, perhaps Mrs Fluffy?... Well done everyone, looking forward to seeing Caroline and Claire again.
The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.

Hi Georgeta, thanks so much for yesterday. We got a huge amount done. Today, Marko, Alicia and I moved the rest of the soil from the builder’s bag, topping up some beds and truggs that needed it. We planted three of the blueberries, too. Please thank Sol, Caroline and Claire for me too.
