Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Slough runner
Today's small but perfectly formed team made great strides with Jenny and Naomi cutting, cleaning and drying the crisps packets for the homeless. It was lovely to be joined by Sara from Windsor and Maidenhead again who not only deftly sorted the crisp packets into piles for 'homeless project', 'sending to terracycle', 'general recycling' or 'rejects' she also whisked away two full boxes to take to her local school who are collecting them to raise funds.
Paula (task owner) and Jen set to work positioning the new shelving so that we now have drop off locations for milk bottle tops and printer cartridges. Paula then parcelled up the Nespresso pods whilst Jen filled up a crate of Tassimo pods to transport to a local charity who collects them to raise funds to support people with disabilities to participate in sports.
Finally they turned their focus to the Ella Food Pouches which had been building up for a few weeks, we nearly lost Jen in the blue barrel but soon they worked through the mountain to box up the cleanest pouches ready to return to Ella's Kitchen. Some of those pouch flavours make me glad to not be the person changing those babies nappies! Looks like next weeks task will include cleaning out the remaining pouches.
Its not just the opportunity to be eco warriors, nor the chance to support other worthy causes that makes this task enjoyable, but being able to visit the farm shop and see tha amazing Halloween display in the Plant Nursery brings us joy too. I'm excited at the thought of seeing the Christmas display develop over the coming weeks....jingle bells, jingle bells....
