Wednesday 16th September

Jake completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Jake has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

12 Goodgymers completed an impromptu litter pick around Headingley for tonight's task.
Chloe found a hoover in the street, which might explain the rubbish found elsewhere underneath some carpet. What is wrong with people?!
There's no hiding anything from Goodgym litter pickers - we'll find your grot and grime! Everything was bagged up, and it was a nice strolling chat for everyone in the process.

We had a quick run on the ridge to MVF, what a gorgeous September evening too! Our tasks included the infamous compost turning, filled with the best convos and strategic layering of courgette leaves, compost and hay; some might say it was lasagne-esque. We also trimmed more courgette leaves and cleared tomato plants ready for more spring onions to be planted.
Our Laura has done 200 tasks (yay, well done Laura!) what an achievement! Jason gifted her with a bright, flower garland.
Our Sarah starts filming her film on Sunday! We can’t wait for it to come out on Netflix. Popcorn at the ready! Until next week :)

We are a small charity with limited resources, so jobs like this often fall by the wayside. It helps us to continue to focus on our core work, but also with compost, it means we can have less inputs and save money

In the words of Erica, Helen had 'pure steamer joy' tonight whilst watching the eclipse through her veg steamer! Luckily Adam also brought some eclipse glasses so he shared them with 14 of us! Thanks Adam! We got a good view at the beginning & end of the session which was amazing to see.
We headed to OWLS allotments to fix raised beds & to do our usual weeding. We also had a journalism student come to interview us about all things GoodGym. Adam & I both got interviewed...let's hope we come across OK!
We got everyone's hopes up on the way back as we were going to get ice cream but sadly the queue was too long! Next time.
It was nice to welcome Maya, a member of the Young Leaders group who started tonight. Welcome!

This afternoon, we had a beautiful time swimming & paddleboarding at Pool Bridge Farm near York. It's such a gorgeous spot.
Helen & I got stuck in 2 hours of traffic on route but it was so worth it for the ice cream, the exercise, the picnic & the lovely company. Best of all...no one drooped the oar! A successful trip all in all :)
It was nice to see Hope again & to meet Kieran.

What a great evening we've had with the GoodGym Leeds gang tonight.
Compost moving, weeding & laying membrane were the name of the game up at OWLS allotments. There were also discussions about ants, cricket, musicals, football & Carole.
We then headed to Heart for a drink afterwards & discussed Sarah's interview tomorrow at BBC Radio Leeds where she'll be talking all things GoodGym. We can't wait to listen Sarah!
