What a performance!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! 👑🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Tonight we were doing a double bill with not one but two acts of kindness 👏🏻 💪🏻

Helen ( who had just run the London Marathon 🏃🏻‍♀️ 👏🏻🎖️), Devon and Mandy met at The Binoy for a social run and Sue, Adam and Margaret (her debut GoodGym session 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻) met us at the task.

Then the show began …. Or was it a circus 🤣

For our first act we met our task owner Anne at Busy Buttons (St Agnes Church) and Anne kindly showed us the church garden. We de-weeded the gravel drains, broke down and moved some old wooden furniture and other rubbish to the front of the church to be collected and swept/made tidy. Devon even did a bit of guttering clearance !

After the interval (as in us hot footing to the pathway near the church with our belongings) we got to work for our second task. We had done some work here in the dark but we had not quite finished it so we did that tonight. Devon and Adam had a great technique and were very neat and precise and polished. Mandy less so 🤣 she kept getting her lines all wrong 🤣 although Helen did keep her in check. Sue and Margaret attached the brambles. We filled three bags which is amazing in the time we had.

Soon it was time for the final curtain and we took a bow, gave ourselves an huge round of applause and made our way home.

Thank you all as always Windsor GGs 👑 ♥️👏🏻

Rave in the Grave!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday at 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor night 👑🏃‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️ and tonight we were at Vale Road Cemetery doing its first tidy up of the spring.

This was a community mission so Adam, Zoe, Helen and Mandy made our way with a social run the long way round from the meeting point at The Binoy and Sue met us there. Huge welcome to Zoe who was attending her very first GoodGym session 👏🏻♥️

The task owner Paul had left tunny bags for us and given Mandy instructions. Sue is also a regular volunteer there so we had an expert on hand.

We split the team with Sue and Adam attacking the Ivy on the fences, trees and gravestones on the far side they were not ghouling around 👻 . While Helen, Zoe and Mandy stayed nearer the entrance collecting leaves bending, squatting and pulling the tunny bag as we went and Helen had a good go at pulling down the tallest bramble ever known but sadly failed but lots of effort was put in trying 🤣 Mandy also found a bone 🦴…. Don’t worry it wasn’t human we didn’t do any digging!

Lots of chats and looking at how much difference we made lifted our spirits 👻

We left the two full bags for collection by the council tomorrow and the rubbish in the bins.

After the task Sue and Helen made their way back but Zoe, Adam and Mandy decided to get RIP- ped 🪦and used some fitness playing cards for a quick extra fun workout followed by the Windsor 👑 curtsy/bow before we made back to the meeting point.

Thank you all for coming. ♥️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃‍♂️👏🏻

Photos by Mandy (although I forgot to take one of the two full tunny bags at the end 😬 sorry)

Title of report - Adam 🤣 yes I stole it!

GG Paints 🖌️ an entrance!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday night at 6:15pm is Goodgym Windsor night 👑🏃‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️and tonight we were helping Age Concern at the Spencer Denney Centre sprucing up their entrances.

This was a community mission so Helen, Mandy and Caroline met at The Binoy on Dedworth Road for a social run or walk to the task and Adam and Didem met us there.

We were met at the centre by task owners Rachel who showed us where everything was and what we needed to prep and paint from blue to a pale sage green. The plan was to make the front entrance bright and welcoming. Lots to do but in true GG style we had no com-paints 🖌️

We got started with masking up the areas we didn’t need to paint or to protect like the tree mural that’s fasten to the wall. Then with the sugar soap solution cleaning the walls of grease, dust and bits of blue tack etc. Once dried off we chose a roller or brush of choice and got painting. No area was glossed 🖌️over

Caroline chose the radio station and Mandy got the tunes on like any tradesperson would! Doing a first coat on all walls and skirting. We chatted and exchanged our news while we worked.

Adam and Helen got a bit emulsion-al 🖌️ about their walls but we all thought the finish was perfect.

Didem , Helen and Caroline battled with rinsing and soaking the paint trays , brushes and rollers.

We did get a bit splattered with paint but we just just brushed 🖌️ it off 🤣

Looking forward to the second coat and starting the other area next time 👏🏻

After the task Caroline and Mandy made their way back to the meeting point for goodbyes and the Windsor Curtsy 👑 the others went directly home.

Thank you as always for attending 👏🏻

The four compost- GGeers ⚔️

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday night at 6:15pm is Goodgym Windsor night 👑🏃‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️ and tonight our quest was serve Age Concern at the Spencer Denney Centre. It’s the 29th Feb so we went leap yearing into this swashbuckling adventure.

Just like the tale we were three Adam, Helen and Mandy being briefed on our duty by task owner Rachel, then Caroline joined us for her 10th time for the leaf scooping and compost bin squishing!

We all wielded our rakes and acted with valour then the battle commenced.

Adam and Helen took many loads of leaves minding the boggy grass. While Caroline and Mandy started work at the top level sorting plants that had been hidden by the fallen leaves.

The garden was cleared ready to see what plants had made it through the winter months.

Mandy made a period drama of the team photo and locking the building up but Helen was a loyal companion and so a happy ending was made. We ended with a honouree round of HIIT before making our way home.

All for one and one for all ⚔️

Thank you as always for coming! 👏🏻 I love our vibe and always feel better for seeing you all ♥️
