Write up GoodGymers Alley!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday night at 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor night ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ and tonight we were at an over grown pathway that residents want to have some meadow flowers to attract more bees ๐Ÿand butterflyโ€™s ๐Ÿฆ‹ and basic-alley look pretty for all to see! Oh which we had great em - path-y

Devon and Mandy met at The Binoy, Dedworth Road our usual meeting point to run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ to the task and the others Caroline, Sheila, Sue, Adam and Sheila met at us the task poised and ready to go. A huge welcome to Sue on her first Goodgym task ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

We met the task owners Karen and Margaret who explained the task and as there was no time to dilly d-alley we set to work at either end of the pathway.

Sheila, Sue and Margaret attacked the brambles and overgrown shrubs at the Princess Ave end and the others made the path wider by digging down into the soil and removing the earth into bags for collection at St Leonardโ€™s Road end.

We actually ( ok I know that these are not officially alley) ๐Ÿคฃ did very well helped by all the rain today but it kept dry for us ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป but we will need to return soon to finish the job.

Once the time was drawing to a close we swept up and some carried (Mandy was a bit pathetic at this) or dragged the full bags to a collection area. They were a bit heavy so we may need an osteo-path ๐Ÿคฃ โ€ฆ. Not really only kidding.

After the task we all said goodbyes did a quick Windsor curtesy and bow ๐Ÿ‘‘ and made our way home.

Thank you to everyone for coming ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโ™ฅ๏ธ

Mandy has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Class of (15.02) โ€˜24 - School Report!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday at 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Tonight we helped The Friends of Windsor Girls School with their exam desk up- grade.

This was a community mission so we met at the The Binoy, did our own warm up and some had a social walk while others enjoyed a social run.

On arrival we took the register and were met by the task owner Julie who educated us about the time-table and the brilliant work stations she had organised for us.

Typical GG behaviour of taking on the challenge of a huge amount of desks but we got the music on and were 100% focused.

Jenni was on desk sorting by removing tape and any other yukky bits, moving them through to the woodwork students Sheila, Adam, Sol and Mandy for the rub down. Jen was revising her domestic science by wiping off the dust. Then onto The art class, Bekah and Chris were painting really accurately. Helen was doing fine art brush drying and the heavy lifting of the tables outside for drying. Until the rain when they had to come back in again ๐Ÿ˜ฌ great team effort! We could not have done better.

A double period of 1 hour and 10 minutes later the bell rang and we calculated 94 tables were totally finished. We passed the test and came top of the class! A * performance all round! And Jen got her medal for being extra good with 400 GoodGym tasks!

Most of the class were allowed home but four got detention and had to stay behind for a PE lesson of basket ball and netball practise.

We all had the best time and schools definitely not out for GoodGym!

We scored a Hat Trick !!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Some of us took a social run/ walk from the meeting point, some met us at the task and one (Sol) did a hybrid of the two ๐Ÿคฃ It was a bit waterlogged on route but we played on!

Windsor GGs all pitched in for this community cup mission and it was our third task at the club on our 2nd leg of sanding down tables to finish the job under the watchful eye of the task owner Anthony.

Smooth teamwork resulted in a polished finish and we won the game there was even some half time refreshments!

Adam was on loan from GG Slough and we may bid for a permanent transfer as heโ€™s quite skilled with the hover! Caroline, Bekah, Sol, Amy, and Mandy were methodical players whilst listened to some music and Sol gave us a geography quiz and how we get to Latvia for the World Cup โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ† Honestly Iโ€™m running out of football pundits!

After the sanding, wiping down and hovering we had a quick fun training session by counting jumping jacks, spotty dogs, squats and arm circles in Latvian, Welsh, Spanish and South American then a funny cockney dance and posh Windsor curtsy and bow to say a right royal goodbye.

Thank you all as always ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ† Sol , Caroline, Rebekah, Amy and Adam

๐ŸŽถWe got no key ๐Ÿ”‘ we got no secret ๐Ÿคซ

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Meeting at The Binoy MAMMA MรA - HERE WE GO AGAIN on another task we warmed up and then the runners went ahead but circled back to meet the walkers for extra FOREST GUMP ๐ŸŽฌ

Our MISSION (NOT) IMPOSSIBLE ๐ŸŽฌwas at The Spencer Denny Centre. A slight technical hitch to which we couldnโ€™t crack the code to THE SECRET GARDEN despite our best efforts led to plan B in resourceful GG style! There was no way we were going to cut the night short and we showed our indomitable spirits!

Mandy emptied out the contents of her rucksack (dustpan and brush, black bag, three pairs of gloves, pair of secateurs ). Amanda hot footed back home for more tools and black bags. Meanwhile Jen, Helen and Bekah started on the leaves and Caroline set upon the bush with THE CUTTING EDGE and LOVE ACTUALLY we did very well! What we thought was going to be a small leaf collection ended up as 5 bags full.

We cleared some litter, did a bit of weeding and a generally tidy up at the front of the building. In fact the time snipped away very fast! Before we got too โ€˜FROZENโ€™.

After we had finished all we could we did a fun fitness session before running/walking back to the meeting point for goodbyes.

As always thank you all for coming and hope to see you all again soon.

Come on you red (s) Windsor GGs

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Our last Thursday evening GG Windsor session for January found us back at Windsor and Eton FC to tackle some tired tables.

We met at the Boots/Binoy on the Dedworth Road, did the welcome and a warm up led by our fabulous run leader Amy.

Youโ€™ll never walk alone Sheila did in fact walk alone but beat the runners Devon, Julie and Mandy as she won the throw and went ahead.

At the task we met with Sol had a little game of dribbling, where Sheila was nutmegged and fun exercises while the task owner Anthony organised the fixture.

After the team talk we hit the woodwork and put in a shift with a clean sheet of sandpaper ensuring we did not go against the grain. It was a beautiful finish and those league tables are now back in the game.

We all chipped in with such skill that there was no need for extra time.

Soon it was time for an early bath so we made our way back for a stretch and goodbyes but not before a not very polished cheerleading performance ๐Ÿคฃ

Give me a G Give me an O Give me an O Give me a D Give me a G Give me a Y Give me a M

Thank you all so much for coming I am your biggest fan ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
