In comparison to last nights solo session at Frenford Food Bank the place was buzzing with volunteers today.
A huge welcome to Tina and Herman on their first mission. They arrived together bright an early which gave Linda a chance to show them the ropes before the hustle and bustle got under way. They picked it up quickly and were very soon part of the team.
Ben remembered to sign up in time this time š and is now a confirmed regular who quietly gets on with the job, Katherine brought her usual energy to the team and AJ her skills organising and tidying of the shelves trick - she calls it OCD but whatever you call it it's very useful in the Food Bank.
Along with the other Frenford volunteers we got 38 packages together well in time for the drivers arrival.
Some had places to go so left soon after and the others hung on to assist the drivers which was most appreciated.

Despite the deluge outside 4 Good Gymmers came to assist Frenford Food Bank. Linda and James arrived a bit early and as everything they needed was set up ready they didn't wait for instructions and made an early start. Just as well we started early as the task owner was held up for over an hour and a half.
A big welcome to Angela who completed her first mission today she did a great job and is looking forward to doing more.
We also welcomed Ben who was a bonus late sign up, its never too late to join the food bank sessions they wont turn down a willing pair of hands.
Between GG and the Frenford volunteers we finished packing, started restocking shelves and organised one of the deliveries before the task owner(Irfan) arrived.
Irfan thanked us for carrying out the instructions in his message which was weird as we hadn't seen his message. Turns out we carried out all he wanted us to do without being told...thats how good we are š
By the time the drivers started arriving the rain had cleared and we helped load their cars then all had a much drier journey home.
Good Job Good Gymmers. šš»

First of all a huge welcome to Fatima who is new to Redbridge and was previously a part of Tower Hamlets group. š
Linda arrived at Frenford Food Bank to find James showing Fatima the ropes and 2nd timer Ben already packing like a pro. Our Jenny was next to arrive and got stuck in straight away. It was a busy session as a lot of the Food Banks regular teenage helpers were not available this week š
Some of us were sad as one of our regular Park Run Marshalls had passed away recently, one of the Frenford helpers was grumpy with the young Frenford gym members getting under his feet and another was very down having just had a bad experience in a recent exam. Fortunately the busyness of the task, the banter between us and offers of hugs and support pulled us all through. Even when two packages mysteriously disappeared, everyone rallied round to correct the situation. Turns out the packages had gone for a ride with one of the drivers, who is a lovely lady over 80 years old so she was very much forgiven.
Once again the blending of different volunteer teams and hard work won through. Well done to all involved šš»šš»

On a sunny Saturday morning, the team quickly powered through the parcel packing, putting together more than 40 food parcels for families in Redbridge. It was great to see Ben there with us for the first time. As we finished packing an hour early, there was time for a surprise 16th birthday celebration for Millie, one of the longest standing volunteers at the foodbank. Snacks and a bit of a sugar rush gave us some energy for running/cycling home and enjoying the rest of our days. Great work from everyone involved š

Ben Williams earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Ben completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Ben was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
