After several hours of very heavy rain indeed, the clouds unexpectedly lifted and the sun even poked through with perfect timing for the Community Litter Pick organised by Welling Station and Discover Welling.

Four of our GoodGymers (Robert prefers not to be in photos) joined the mission to clear litter along a footpath running parallel to platform 2.

And there sure was a lot of litter to clear!

Alongside station staff and two local residents others, we collected loads of bags full.

Star finds included a pair of trousers 👖, an umbrella ☂️, and a MacDonald's staff name badge!

The darkening skies signalled time to call it a day and we headed homeward. Just in time too, as big rain started falling not long after.

Another task well done and definitely time for tea 🫖.

Tomorrow Welling Station will celebrate its 130th birthday and 200 years of the railway.

Tonight we ran, walked and cycled to the station to help with final preparations for their party.

First we swept 🧹🧹🧹 the approach road where stalls and displays will be put up. So many cigarette butts!

Then we sealed goody bags that will be given to winners of a competition to design railway-themed posters 🚂. All the lovely entries are on display in the ticket hall. We hope passengers will pause to appreciate them as they pass through the area.

Next, we pinned flyers promoting local community organisations onto a noticeboard that will be on display at the Discover Welling stand 📌📌📌. Of course, we included some GoodGym leaflets!

And we watered the flowerbeds 🌻🌷.

It was great to have Julie with us for her first GoodGym task. Having worked with us through Discover Welling on many tasks, we're thrilled to have you as part of the GG team.

The station team could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They've worked really hard to put up bunting, stuff goody bags ready to give away to travelers, and get things looking fab.

Our sensational litterpicking champion, Ashton, flew the flag for GoodGym at this morning’s community litterpick organised by Welling Station in partnership with the amazing team at Discover Welling.

Targeting the public footpath alongside the station there was so much debris that the rubblish bags filled quickly.

Well done everyone who gave their time and braved the cold to make things nicer for others.
