Royal Pickers!

Wednesday 17th April

Written by Liam

This evening was a an evening of firsts, with our first task in Kings Norton and we also welcomed Helen to her first GoodGym task, welcome Helen!

We set off from our meeting point at Bournville Station and heading down the canal towards Kings Norton. This evening we collected 2 big bags of rubbish from around the station, to make sure its prepped for the new railway line due to open later this year (hopefully!). Following a quick diversion to the shelter of the station to hide from the rain, we finished up our litter picking, dropped the bags off and ran back towards Bournville via Cotteridge Park.

Great job everyone!

Coolie Done!

Thursday 11th January

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight, on a somewhat nippy night, Jonny, Amy and Anna headed to the canal to do a litter pick.

We ran down to the canal, before filling one big bag full of rubbish. Anna and Jonny using the litter pickers and Amy carrying the bag.

Once done we had a quick picture, then we were all more than happy to get running, it's a great way to warm up!

We ran a slightly different way back through the city, arriving at 1000 Trades, having done a nice 3k or so :)

Soul Sisters (and Liam)

Tuesday 7th November 2023

Written by Liam

This week we had a slight change to the plan and instead migrated south to Stirchley for the evening for a litter pick. Laura and Morwenna really pulled eachother along with some grueling picking, the highlight being part of the soul of a shoe (hence the pun!).

After the pick, we went for a gentle 4km run around to get warm before heading back to base for a well earned refreshment.

Making A Difference!

Tuesday 17th October 2023

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight we were joined by Mayu for the first time who is a student from India.

Laura led the way to the canal. We were going to a specific spot which was covered in rubbish. We filled two bags of rubbish and really made a difference to the area.

Once done we ran into the city centre, around the cathedral square, then dropped down to St Paul's square and back to 1k Trades, for a good 5k in total.

Cray a little fish!

Tuesday 10th October 2023

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight we had Gabriel joining us for the first time. It was lovely to have him with us.

Miriam being the walk leader, took our litter pickers to the canal and we got picking! We found a train ticket early doors, which was going to be part of our pun, but then found something more interesting.....yes a rather large Crayfish on the towpath. After deciding to leave it alone rather than put it back in the water, we carried on with the litter pick.

Once done after a few selfies, Miriam and Eve took our litter pickers back whilst Jonny, Gabriel and Morwenna did a 5k run taking in Brindley Place, The Mail Box, New Street Station, Colmore Row and back to 1000 Trades.

Getting Picky!

Tuesday 5th September 2023

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight on a balmy September evening Morwenna and Jonny headed to the canal for a litter pick.

The canal certainly needed it! There was quite a bit of rubbish around! Anyway, we still did a good job, filling one bag full.

Once done we went on a run taking in a loop of the Jewellery Quarter, before landing at 1000 Trades, with a nice 5k complete.

After the run Liam joined us for a nice cold drink :)
