Frozen Fingers, Warm Cheers ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿ’จ

Saturday 28th February

Written by Chandrima Tolia (she/her/hers)

Two GoodGymers, Chandrima and Aman, braved a blustery morning at Greenwich Peninsula parkrun with a "feels like" temperature of a biting 1ยฐC. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ It was a busy event with 484 participants who toughed it out, making every cheer count! ๐Ÿ“ฃ๐Ÿ‘

Chandrima marshalled at the North Curve, guiding and interacting with participants around the course, encouraging every runner, warning of obstacles or hazards (like puddles from the light rain earlier! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ) , and ensuring safety despite hands nearly freezing in the wind. ๐Ÿงค๐Ÿ›‘

Aman took on the challenging role of Funnel Manager, overseeing the whole finish area and ensuring all 484 participants moved smoothly and swiftly through the finish funnel. ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ

After the run, we also helped with removing course signs to ensure everything was packed away smoothly. ๐Ÿšงโœ…

Despite the chill, the steady stream of smiles, thank-yous and that lovely London view made it all worth it! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒ†โค๏ธ

Cheer Pressure: Powered Me to 101 Good Deeds!

Saturday 21st February

Written by Cecilia D๐Ÿ€

Saturday means parkrun (non-negotiable in my calendar), and this week it came with a side of cheer pressure โ€” the good kind! A +1 to my good deeds tally as I joined my fellow Goodgymer Marta at Greenwich Peninsula parkrun.

Marta took charge as the fabulous Funnel Manager, keeping everything flowing smoothly, while I stepped into the parkwalker role โ€” because sometimes the best way to move forward is one steady step at a time. My warm-up? A gentle jog to the task. Efficient and smugly punctual.

Along the way I bumped into my friend Dee (who I met at a previous running event) and met her friend too โ€” parkrun really is a social network. While out on the course I teamed up with Lorraine, and of course we chatted aboutโ€ฆ running, races, weather, shoes..

I made sure to dish out plenty of cheers to the runners. Turns out, cheering others on is the perfect power source. Hence: Cheer Pressure. ๐Ÿ‘

The weather behaved itself too โ€” dry (hooray!), a bit windy but no rain so absolutely no complaints from me.

Another great Saturday, another brilliant community moment, and thatโ€™s 101 good deeds in the bag.

Right โ€” no rest for the righteousโ€ฆ off to the next task! ๐Ÿ˜„

West. East. West. East. West

Saturday 24th January

Written by Lobo

How can you jump hemispheres so easily? Well, nothing like a volunteering on top of the Greenwich meridian line! Lobo and Anna had some fun crossing the line just for fun. Sunny (but chilly), fun, 639 runners and 20+2GG volunteers ๐Ÿ˜Š made it a great morning!
