Hello Spring!

Wednesday 24th April

Written by Amy L (she/her)

This evening we had a change of scenery from our usual Wednesday night stomping ground and went on tour to Bray Parish. Georgeta, Gillian, Matthew, Scarlett, Sophie and Sue joined me to get fit by delivering newsletters to residents in streets around the Holyport Road.

The newsletter informs residents about lots of local services and events such as the Holyport Village Fair, Prostate Cancer Testing, Community Speedwatch and lots more - it is particularly helpful for residents who are less well connected digitally.

Like animals going into the Ark(ley Court), we set off two by two (and with one three) to cover the required area. It was a (Tithe) Close call whether Gillian and I would get lost on Aysgarth Park and Eskdale Gardens but as the saying goes, all's well that Cresswells Mead and we covered a really Lonsdale Way - over 6km in total. Along the way Georgeta, Sophie and Sue said hello to Spring(field gardens), and we all delivered Moor newsletters in the End than I had thought possible Prior(s Way) to joining GoodGym!

When it was time to say goodByland Drive, we all agreed we'd had a great workout and set off for home under a lovely pink sunset.

Bray-ving the cold!

Wednesday 25th October 2023

Written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

12 bray-ve goodgymmers met at probably one of our darkest start locations resulting in a few members finding it hard to find us and hence setting off a little late.

We had 2 big boxes of newsletters to distribute to 3 of the main residential areas in Holyport so we divided into teams and the walkers set off shortly followed by the runners after a quick warm up.

We all met up after about an hour and headed back to the start location in a runners and walkers group. It was chilly but we kept warm with lots of movement and covered off a huge chuck of Holyport who are all now much more informed about what's going on locally.

Well done everyone!

Leaf-letting the good times roll!

Thursday 27th April 2023

Written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Sophie, Jess and Rachel made light work of a big box of newsletters for Bray Parish Council and managed to cover off a big chunk of both Springfield Park and Asygarth in Holyport. Despite their fingers nearly ending up as a few dogs’ dinners, they completed the task unscathed and after approx 40 minutes in the sunshine, having had to postpone twice on account of rain! Bray Parish Council said that they’ve now distributed all newsletters in record time!

Chil-leafletting around Holyport on Blue Monday

Monday 16th January 2023

Written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Blue Monday? What's that?

A group of 4 layered up GoodGymmers set off around the streets of Holyport distributing newsletters for Bray Parish Council. It was -1 degrees and we walked around 4.5 miles across 7 different streets. Sophie's daily steps for the day were 14,829! Gemma and Tommy over achieved their RED January daily goal and Anne-Laure and Sophie kept warm at the end with a short jog back to the meeting point. It was also Thomas's first official GoodGym task, though he did help us back in April last year at the Easter 10, plus he was on the cheer squad for Endure 24...! It's great to have you as an official GoodGymmer Tom...! Well done everyone and hope you've warmed up a bit...!

We Bray-ved the cold and ended up on page 3!

Wednesday 7th December 2022

Written by Louise Tyrell

Amy, Louise, Georgeta, Diya, Kanika and Juli met at braywick nature reserve car park to distribute the Bray parish newsletters between us.

We then split into 2 groups and dasher-d across the road to blitz-en the houses with the local news

The walk was a little longer than anticipated but we saw lots of festive displays on the way to make the extra steps worth it!

After a nearly 6 mile walk there were many (Rudolf) the red nose gymmers and a lift from Santa's sleigh would have been welcomed at this point, sadly the big man didn’t appear

Goodgym was highlighted on page 3 of the newsletter- it would be Christmas cracker-ing to see some new members from it!

After walking the streets for over 2 hours a different street of the quality variety helped to keep up our spirits for the final leg back to our cars where we made our way home to warm our frozen noses and toeses
