10 to Walk. Wheel, Cycle tracks

Sheffield Report written by Annie Anthony Mays

10 Goodgymmers met up at The Showroom Cinema. Sharsm welcomed everyone. A big Welcome to Lesley who we have not seen for a very long time. He says he will start coming more often now that he is back in Sheffield. We all ran up to meet up with Craig who was waiting for us at the junction of Cricket Inn Road and Maltravers Road. Craig then explained to us the main task of 'Litter Picking' and gave us tools, gloves, bin bags,etc...We all then split up in various directions and worked in pairs. There were lots of rubbish including cans and bottles which made the bin bags heavier than expected. Altogether we collected 13 Full Bin Bags. Gerry then gave us biscuits as a treat. Thank you Gerry and she also ran with us from the Showroom and back again with us. A great team with cooperation, chats and worked hard. Thank you all who supported this organization.

A Star Arbourthorne

Sheffield Report written by Amelia

The rain held off for our uphill run to Arbourthorne Community Primary School, who were preparing their beautiful grounds for a horticultural show on Wednesday (there's even going to be llamas there!). A few of us grabbed some scissors and foraged for the last flowers left from the Summer for the children to make into little bouquets, which apparently they really enjoy and get to take home and keep afterwards. We "sampled" some of the fruit in the trees as we went, including crispy apples. Adrian and Ewan cut some willow plants for the kids to weave into wands. Arbourthorne Primary School have created areas of sustainable resources such as the willow plant, which can also be seen put to use in other areas such as a dome shaped den that we tidied a couple months ago. And even after the storm we had a few days ago, there is always watering to be done. Some GoodGymmers took on the task of watering the plants and flowers in the polytunnel - luckily the water butts were full! Angela very kindly shared some fruit from FoodWorks with us. Foodworks is a community action project in Sheffield working to reduce food waste and make wholesome meals accessible to everybody. Good luck in the horticultural show!

Pickers in Pittsmoor

Sheffield Report written by Annie Anthony Mays

10 runners ran up to Pittsmoor and met up with Danielle. She then gave us instructions of where to go to pick litter and cans in a separate bag. We then collected hoops and bags and litter pickers and also met Malcolm with all his equipments in his red car. We then met up with another 2 volunteers from Pittsmoor Litter Pickers who are Dave and Galvin.. Altogether there were 14 of us and it made work faster and easier in a big, friendly team. Really helpful and rewarding team. Thank you all for a big team effort. After the task we ran back to The Showroom and did some activity to cool and warm down with various exercises that Tom had shown us. A very good evening and enjoyed by everyone.

Mindfulness and Cleanliness

Sheffield Report written by Annie Anthony Mays

9 GG Runners ran up to MIND,, Well Being Centre. We met up with Lindsay and she welcomed us and explained that we will be litter picking. She then show us around the areas and the garden and the plants looked very dehydrated. I then explained that we also do gardening. Much to Lindsay's surprise she then asks us to do some weeding and possibly some pruning too She gave us various tools, gloves and brushes, etc. Towards the end it was a 'Mindfulness' and 'Cleanliness' tasks which was very rewarding to all of us. We certainly tidied up all the areas that was demanded and Lindsay was satisfied.
