Shed and fence disassemble

St Mary's Allotment, in Plaistow have asked for our help with dismantling and old shed and fence that have become unsafe to use.
St Mary's Allotment has been growing food for families locally since 1906. They have recently been working to maintain this history of gardening with the restoration of their cabin and community areas. 3 local schools and 2 elderly residences, food banks and community kitchens will all benefit from the updating of this fabulous community asset, whilst the biodiversity of wildlife and soil will be nurtured for years to come.
If you're new to GoodGym or to our group in Newham, we'll meet just inside the entrance to the Aquatics Centre - just look out for anyone in a red t-shirt and come and say hello. We love to meet new people! You're welcome to run at whatever pace you feel comfortable and there are always back markers to make sure no one is left behind.
There are toilets at the Aquatics Centre, but currently no bag drop facilities.
You're also welcome to meet us at the task - we should be there by 7:15 and the address is:
St Mary's Allotment Gardens Queen's Rd W E13 0PE

We welcomed Priscila to her first GGNewham group run.
Ange had a couple of tasks planned for tonight, a goodgym classic moving wood chip and digging and hole ready for a wooden installation next to the pond.
Kevin and Priscila took on the task of digging a meter deep hole which was made more difficult due to the amount of rubble that is buried on the site, the joy of the playground be built on an old blitz dump.
Hilary and I took on the task of re wood chipping one of the swing areas within the playground.
We finished the evening tadpole spotting in the playgrounds pond.

Storage Sorting for Care4Calais

Please note that this group run has been cancelled.
Back to help Care4Calais to sort their donations at their East London storage facility - we have some updates on the areas of the facility that they'd like us to focus on. In particular, we have some elastic bands to make shoes are paired together and also some new donated items to sort through.
In general, they have donated items to distribute to people seeking asylum across East London, many of whom came to the UK with only the clothes they are wearing whilst fleeing war and persecution, from countries including Sudan, Syria and Eritrea. Sorting the storage is an essential task to enable them to do that and we're only too happy to be able to help!
Where to meet:
We'll meet at 18:45 in the courtyard at the Print House - usually at or near the tables that run alongside the river. If you're new to GoodGym or our group in Newham, look out for anyone in a red GoodGym top and come and say hello! We love to meet new people and welcome all running abilities - there is a backmarker on every task to make sure no one gets left behind. The run to this task is about 2 miles each way. Note that there are toilets that we can use at the Print House, but no bag drop facilities at the moment.
You are also welcome to meet us at the task - we should be there by 19:15 and the address is:
Plashet Road Nursery, Upton Centre E13 0QB - meet by the gate at the intersection of Claude Road and Daisy Parsons Court.

Dustin time for Easter
A return to an evening task st Emmanuel Church.
This week Sybil had asked if it would be possible for us to give the church a spring clean ready for their Easter services.
A received a very warm welcome from Sybil who then led us into the church.
Brooms, feather dusters and clothes at the ready we split into groups and proceeded to dust and remove as many cobwebs as possible.
Kevin was in charge of ladder holding while Adam gave the ceiling a brush.
Graham and Brad with the help from one of the church wardens fashioned an extra long brush to reach the cobwebs above the arches.
A quick refuel thanks to the wonderful lady wardens who had made us cheese on toast in addition to tea and coffee and fruit,we also finished off my birthday cake. Refueled we made a final push to get the final webs before we said our goodbyes not before Sybil made sure we had some fruit for when we got home.
