Group Fitness Activities
Miguel Rodrigues is going to lose weight.
Their target is to get to 80.0 kg by Jan 12th 2022.
To achieve this Miguel will log 2 sessions a week.
On Oct 12th 2021, Miguel decided to make this happen.
Miguel has got Strava connected. Strava is a great way to track your progress.
We had a brand new task this evening which was a short run from our start point but first we needed to warm up which involved a game of rock, paper scissors. The winner got to sprint to the edge of the warm up area whilst the loser had to do 5 squats – it was undecided who was actually the winner or loser in this game. Although the clear winner was Iitmari who won every round!
We made our way over to St Mary’s Primary School together as a group and met Anne-Marie who gave a very detailed health and safety introduction to keep us all safe and meant a lot of shouts of high feet around the area. There were lots to get involved in, including:
- Clearing the brambles to plant spring bulbs
- Cutting back brambles to access the fence
- Sawing the fence into parts so it could be removed
- Removing the fence
- Clearing the brambles in the area that will become a meadow
- Cutting back a hedge area
- Pairing up of abandoned shoes
- Being a human flood light
We managed to clear a huge amount of brambles, reunited a pair a shoes, freed a basketball, found a chicken dog toy and found three fur trims from multiple coats.
It was time to pack up tools and make sure we hadn’t left any in the brambles – we have a reputation for losing tools!!
We made our way to Ladywell Fields to work on our hill sprints. First off we did a hill sprint, then a hill sprint with no arms so we looked like penguins, then we partnered up and focused on driving our arms and then did another hill sprint to put this into practice and hopefully everyone felt a bit stronger on the hills by the end!
Helping to tow trolleys from the leisure centre to the Green and set up a gazebo and tables
A visit to Cody Dock is always good for the soul and has been a pleasure over the last few years to see how this place has changed and introduced new visitors.
Sign up and come and join us for a gentle run/walk down The River Lea.
Task is to be confirmed and depending on numbers could be an option of what to do but will definitely be something fun.
Please remember head torches for the journey home

CHANGE OF TASK
Welcome to GoodGym Lewisham! We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Monday evening to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations in our area.
We are heading to Hither Green station to help spread soil across the embankment which will eventually become a wildflower meadow.
GoodGym is for everyone! We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together, so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is. The run this week will be around 4km in total.
We meet at Glass Mill Leisure Centre at 6.45pm, so a short walk from Lewisham Station. We have access to lockers and changing facilities, so you could easily drop in on your way home (bring a pound coin or padlock if you want to use the lockers). Look out for the red t-shirts, we're very friendly!
Miguel has forgone the usual weekend routine. Instead of lie-ins, roasts and strolls around the park Miguel has dropped everything to run a GoodGym mission for someone who needed help. Respect
Miguel has just done something they've never done before. Miguel has just run a mission; they've changed their running route and run to help someone who really needed their help.
It was a drizzling Sunday morning but Marta and I were ready for the task at hand. We made our way to Mrs. J's house and waited patiently for her to open the door. Mrs. J needed help to move her fridge downstairs for the council to collect it and that's exactly what we did. The task was quick, easy (good thing the fridge was actually quite light and that the lift was close enough) and Mrs. J was really pleased and happy. Mission accomplished! Definitely no beating around the "Bush". Until next time:)
