Eight Goodgymer's headed to Mousehold Heath, to support the Warden Will with clearing some areas of gorse. Pockets of gorse had started to take over as it had been thriving in the warmer winters, so this work supported habitat creation.

The weather was slightly blustery but it was a lovely autumn day to be helping on the heath. The session was also supported by two canine coaches Emmy and Tess who were there ensuring we did a good job.

Hey there, a nice short run to Mr J this morning, who has a lot of weeds growing through his gravel. The lawn struggled in Summer so we elected not to mow, but just do some weeding on the high areas.

It all went well and Mr J was very happy.

It was a brisk jog to get to Mr S, but the rain held off for both there and the return.

Mr S is settling into his new flat and is working through the boxes, I helped go through them and unpack some essentials and put some bits back in the boxes for now in a more re-organised fashion.

Mr. S was very happy and was looking forward to re-discovering some of the of books and DVDs that were in the boxes.

There's something strange in the neighbourhood...

Sadly the Mile Cross area of Norwich has a high amount of fly tipping and litter. To combat this, the Mile Cross Litterbusters formed to try and tackle some of the worst hit areas. They regularly meet on weekends, but were happy to connect with GoodGym for a first ever evening litter pick.

6 GoodGymer's ran or walked 4km to Wensum park, where we met Rebecca who had handed out the equipment, instructions and hi-vis. We read through the health & safety, and set off in pairs armed with grabbers & bin trolleys.

Keeping an eye out for any hazards, we covered a large area of roads around the park and local shops. The most surprising find was a discarded kettle!

An hour flew by, and in total 7 bags were filled - ready to be collected by the council in the morning. We even received a certificate for our efforts! It was very rewarding task, superbly organised by Rebecca & her team.
