Shuffle me silly

Wed 16 Mar

What a sesh!!!! A full body workout and mudfest! Well done to everyone helping The Limes centre - we managed to bring all main pieces of dismantled furniture back to the center! STRONG.

Tony, Lianne and Julia met at the church where it was all happening tonight with the gig of some sorts, great music!

After a short warmup, we jogged in the rain to The Limes centre arriving there by 7pm and meeting Charlotte and Ruby, with Guisy - the task referrer - leading us to the green space where a former edible garden was dismantled. We got on with it straight away carrying all sorts of wooden bits and pieces and we felt the power of this workout straight away - think there'll be some sore arms and shoulders tomorrow! We had to employ all sort of walking techniques to get big and heavy things over the road from one end of the area to the centre and that was most effective is The GoodGym Shuffle!!! A technique that did raise an eyebrow or two from passers by - but it worked!:)

We got very muddy and trainers got wet BUT we felt really good - we helped this community centre (and think were a bit of a last resort as well!) and got a nice evening workout!

Task: The Limes Community Centre - we will be helping at this community centre to move the edible garden from it's current place to the carpark - great all body strength workout! Task Location: 6 Somers Rd, Walthamstow, E17 6RX. Text from the task owner:

We have been using a council space to create an edible garden for our young people and our contract to use the space has now come to an end. Therefore we need to remove all of our items from the space for the council by the end of March. We have a couple of large heavy planters with soil, a shed and surrounding fencing which we need to transport back to The Limes. It is very nearby but we don't have to staffing to facilitate it.

WALKERS - please input into comments if you're walking insteading of usual Jog&walk

As usual, you're encouraged to walk, run or cycle to the session!

Cheezy like Sunday Morning

Sun 21 Nov

A day of Daffodils and Cheese Toasties!

Dig: What a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on Sunday helping wonderful Wood Street Gardeners - we arrived to meet the organisers and got all tools and spring bulbs and heading to community garden and pedestrian/cycling filter area nearby. We weeded the gardening beds, put bulbs in under the great direction of Stavros who's the behind this fantastic group, then cleared up around the beds mulching with leaves the area that we've weeded and then tidied up with a job well done!

Drink & Eat: After we finished we went to Dudley's cafe to warm up with a good cup of tea and a three-cheese toastie as it was lunchtime and cake seemed slightly inappropriate:) We had such a lovely time getting to know each other and sharing cycling tips and recipes!
