Despite the wet weather forecast it started dry for the 16 keen good gymers who descended on the park view estate for gardening tasks. As usual we were greeted by Catherine and Liam, who entertained us with some rude songs ;-)
Becs and Boris stayed in the nursery replanting chilli seedlings into pots. Faye, Sasha, Nina and Louise weeded the wild flower bed at the front of the estate whilst Charlotte and Heather combined weeding with planting lavender. Boris and John worked in a border flower bed, adding in compost and planting lavender whilst the two Jennifers and Amber weeded a wild flower bed and planted cosmos seedlings and Stephen dug up raspberry shoots that has escaped out of their designated area.
After a good hour of work some of the team moved on to the blu ivy cafe on the canal for a socially distanced coffee and chat.
Our Parkview regular Stephen heads up this morning's delightful activity of helping Catherine of Parkview Estate plant two large trees, and tend to the wildflower and pollinator beds we helped plant last year.
What you will be doing
- You will be divided into multiple small teams, spread out all over this large estate, under the watchful eye of Task Owner Catherine, with young son Liam project-managing. Prepare for a lively, laughter-filled task.
Always a fun, energising time, this morning's activity is guaranteed to leave you satisfied, sweaty and smiling!
Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.
Come and help Luos get ready to open its doors to the public again. There will be a multitude of tasks and Leyla will no doubt provide us with her winderful oranges during a break. Come. And BRING YOUR MASKS!
We have been asked by Riverside Engage to help Mr T with some food shopping - carrot, spouts, brown bread (sliced), potatoes, cheddar cheese and butter. It is not yet clear which payment method Mr T will be using so any runner signing up needs to be prepared to pay for the shopping (up to the £20 max limit) and then get reimbursed by GoodGym, so please only sign up if you are happy and able to do so.
Another mission for my neighbour Mr.T. Mr.T reported on this occasion that he was now getting out of the house and sitting in his garden enjoying the April sunshine - great news as this is not something he's felt comfortable enough to do up until this point.
