Florence Bourne Orme earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Florence completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Florence was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Florence is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

I’m running out of puns! Had to stop at the fabric store for new material

Lambeth Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)

Running late from attending another community mission, Sam found himself in a room full of volunteers! Aimee, Florence, Maria and Simon were busy taking items out of the shed outside to bring into the main sorting room as with these sessions there are two main tasks:

  1. Collect and sort out donations from the general public, who can drop off items from 13:00-14:00
  2. Set up the room ready for the refugeee Open House, where refugees within the Lambeth and Southwark area can come and take items of their choosing. From clothes to toys, everything is on offer.

Initially, Aimee and another GROAD volunteer were busy opening and sorting out donations that were being dropped off whilst Maria and Simon put clothes on hangers on the rail and then moved to putting the rest of the clothes on the tables (wherever there was a spare space). Florence and Sam took care of the children toys table.

To be honest, we were helping each other out wherever we could. There were about 5-6 drop offs during the hour and the biggest drop-off came from a woman who runs a baby bank, but unfortunately we could not accept girls and boys underwear. She understood and took it back. By the time, Sam had to rush over to the next community mission at Old Alleynian Rugby Club (also for Get Rid Of And Donate), everything was pretty much done! After taking our group photo, we went off to enjoy the rest of our Sunday!

Massive kudos to Florence and Maria for attending their first GoodGym session and I hope you'd enjoyed it! It's great to see plenty of volunteers and we just had about enough to do. Remember, there's plenty of goodness happening, so check out the GoodGym website.
