The unruly grass kept on growing- what a grass-cal!

13' runners joined us at Upton Court Park for a relaxing fitness session.

Jean and Nisha a massive Happy Birthday to you both.

Quick warm up to 2M and back followed by star jumps, spotty dogs, jump ups, arm circles, high knees and so on, followed by 2 groups. Group 1 started with squats whilst group 1 doing side steps along the over grown grass, alternating between the group. Swiftly moving onto our speedy hills, you are were all fantastic 5x hill sprints. Sut even managed 1x hill sprint. Lastly onto the rugby club 30 seconds on back and forth to the white lines.

Nice gentle job back to 2K marker with a nice cool down and sing a long.

So here is our first ‘race’ of 2021!

I say race, but you can run or walk it.

This year we will combine the Slough Half Marathon relay with the #runwithpride event.

What does this involve?

It involves choosing a mile distance (or more) from the Slough Half Marathon route and running or walking it on Sunday 27th June..... AND.... wearing something colorful for PRIDE

The Buck Squats Here

We had 9 runners tonight run 3k in a training session in Slough with plenty of fitness training thrown in too.

We started by welcoming new runner, Tracey, to her first Goodgym session.

After a quick warm up we went straight into fitness training focusing on leg strengthening and core workouts, combining them with running techniques learned in previous sessions. This included squats, sumo squats, backward lunges, russian twists, single and double leg extensions.

After each set of core exercise we introduced speed training and hill exercise to help work towards becoming stronger runners.

We could all take lessons in endurance from Jean and Pam!

We ended the session with a few games including "Noughts and Crosses" using coloured cones, challenging each other in teams. Sandy was super happy to win a couple of games!

Happy birthday to Harsha. We celebrated the big "40" in true Goodgym style by dedicating our last exercise to her favourite exercise and completed 40 Burpees on her behalf.

Great Session this evening with 11 runners participating.

Fitness Part 3

Tonights session was based on strength work to becoming a stronger runner, I split them into Team 1 & 2..

Started with squats, sumo squats, backward lunges with running techniques and a lesson of counting numbers hhmm?

Ricky "Count to 10 or 20" we all passed phew.

Following on Team 1 worked on speed work whilst Team 2 went off to do hill sprints and vice versa, we all went on to do 1 lap of the green area finishing off with a stretch and cool down.

Next Monday 3rd May is Bank Holiday we will confirm soon if a Fitness Session will take place.

I cant tell you how great it is to be back doing something so normal like group fitness sessions!

Tonight 9 of us met in Upton Court Park and got fit and had fun...

We started with introductions from our 'oldies' to our 'newbies'

Then onto the warm up!

Opposites don't attract

When you play this game it becomes more about the thinking then it does the fitness!

I squat .. you lunge You run slow... I run fast

Easy peasy?

Then onto a relay with high knees, heel kicks, lateral shuffles ... well done team Sandy for that win.

Layers you say?!

My fav fitness session at Upton is the pyramid! As pretty as Slough is we don't actually have The Pyramids but we do have a long walk which you can run 3 lengths then rest, run 2 lengths then rest, run 1 length at top effort!

Awesome efforts by everyone!

Three teams, three different tasks

Team 1 - Emma, Joe and Chris had to find the boulders! located somewhere in the park

Team 2 - Helen, Sandy and Ruth had to take a selfie at every km signpost

Team 3 - Jean, Alison and Pam had to go do a lap of Lascelles Park

First team back was the winner!

Well done team 3
