Four runners went plogging along the Tyne. We met at our usual spot outside the Cycle Hub and discussed where our attention would have the most impact. Danilo suggested the long fence that borders the Cycle Hub car park, and that acts as a litter trap for car park litter that has blown in the wind. It turned out to be a good decision, as there was tons to pick up! We all filled a bag, and after struggling with her bag holding device to start with, Aimee filled two. We could have kept going for another hour, but given the weather had turned into one of those deceptively cold nights we're becoming used to, we walked back to the Cycle Hub with litter in hand, whilst admiring our splendid efforts along the way. A job very well done.
A community mission on the move!
Come along to run, jog, walk and plog along the Tyne with a social run in combo with a good deed. What's not to love?
Meet at the Cycle Hub car park and join in with a very gentle jog or walk. Rubbish bags will be provided, but please bring your own gloves. This is a run or walk and a maximum of 5k total distance.
Danilo completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Danilo was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
Danilo has got Strava connected. Strava is a great way to track your progress.
Danilo is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.
Aimee messaged me this morning in a blind panic that she wasn't going to make it along to lead the Community Mission, and I was stuck in a similar position meaning Liz and Danilo had to take this for the team.
It was Danilo's first GG mission today and he earned his good deed with pride. Liz and Danilo spent a busy few hours assembling shelves at East End Foodbank ready for another busy week ahead next week.
They were so busy they forgot to take any pictures which is why this is a random old snap from Charlotte that is always one of my favourites.
Well done to this dynamic duo on a great start to the weekend!
Join in with a great Changing Rooms task this Friday lunchtime as we put up some new shelves (and stock them!) for our friends at East End Women foodbank.
This ever growing charity would love our help.
Congratulations to Danilo who is now Mission Verified. They're now ready to start running GoodGym missions to help older people and running alone to community mission. Give Danilo a cheer to kickstart their mission running career.
