A few years ago, Windmill Hill Primary school were fortunate enough to receive grant funding, to develop a Forest School area at the edge of their school grounds.

A place for studying nature and quiet reflection, the space also boasted a purpose built tree house and small amphitheatre.

Sadly, despite a 6ft fence, the sheltered location and easy access attracted a number of uninvited and unwelcome visitors, who uprooted seating, caused damage to staging and regularly left drug paraphernalia in the tree house.

The school recently engaged contractors to erect a taller, more effective barrier to protect their special space.

It seems to have worked.

Now that the Forest School area is no longer under attack, he school are keen to see it returned to it's former glory.

The first task was to carry out a site survey. I was asked to photograph the area and catalogue any specific jobs to be done. These include cutting back trees and bushes, making log piles, clearing and relaying paths, repairing and replacing seating, along with general maintenance of various wooden installations in the area.

It is hoped that another funding bid will be successful, affording the replacement of some items that were damaged beyond repair.

I am hoping to enlist the help of other GoodGym members, along with James, from Anfield's Alley Angels.

This is going to be a long term project, which, hopefully, GoodGym will be able to support for the foreseeable future.
