What is clothing on?

On a sunny summer morning, a large group of GoodGym-ers (plus one canine companion!) met opposite the Queen Elizabeth Hospital once again to help out the Friends of Woolwich Common, who organise regular community litter picks to keep this beautiful space tidy.

FoWC kindly supplied us with everything we needed for the task: black bin bags, bin bag holders and litter pickers. Once we were fully kitted up, we picked a direction to head in and got underway. The common was looking especially lovely today, filled with wild flowers, bees and butterflies. But unfortunately there was also an awful lot of litter lying around after a few sunny weekends!

After an hour of picking we had filled up five whole bin bags, thanks to stumbling across numerous booze cans and the abandoned remnants of several picnics. We were also surprised to find a selection of discarded garments today - a fleece, a sock and a running hat! Almost a full outfit... albeit a very mismatched one!!

We then headed back to the start point to tie up our bin bags and return our borrowed kit. It's great to see how much cleaner the common looked by the time we had finished, so well done to everyone involved! And to quench our thirst after the task a group of us then headed over to Charlton park to enjoy some well earned cups of coffee and tea in the cafe!
