Tonight’s task was painting recycled car tyres for the St Anthony’s primary school, which will become a part of a brightly coloured obstacle course for the youngsters.

Luckily we were in a covered area in the playground, so we were able to stop the paint from running in the rain! And we didn’t do any running in the rain either!

As always, the chat and banter was wide-ranging and fun. As we chatted about the students locked down at university, we covered quite a few decades of college memories!

• THE BEST PARTIES ARE ALWAYS IN THE KITCHEN - Jess and Naomi found a few angle on the tyres to be able to paint every surface, as well as curling our hair with what they discovered in the kitchen after their flatmates held a party!

• THE BIGGEST ARGUMENTS ARE OVER THE CLEANING - Manjit and Sandy moved at lightening speed around their tyres, and made us wince with the hygiene/cleaning stories from their personal experiences.

• SOME THINGS SHOULD STAY ON TOUR - Pam and Jenny discovered that they had a tractor or truck tyre, which took considerably more paint! But they saved their stories for next time…

And for those who missed out on this lovely mission, let us tempt you with a whisper about the chocolate brownies, oranges and figs at the end of the painting… we have a few more weeks of work to do on painting tasks, so do make this one on Wednesdays a priority in your diary!
