Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

On a beautifully sunny Saturday morning, Patrick and I visited Jean’s home in Camden for a spot of gardening. The tree at the end of the garden was really thriving, and needed quite a bit of cutting back. Jean had heard about us from a friend who’d been visited by GoodGymmers-turned-TV repair people the weekend before (http://www.goodgym.org/reports/hello-is-it-tv-you-re-looking-for). The friend had been so pleased with the results that she’d recommended Jean get in touch.

Though a keen gardener, Jean had recently suffered a fall, so was enjoying her garden from the comfort of her chair for the time-being. In fact, it seemed as though the task might be a branch too far for the GoodGymmers. On his run to the mission, Patrick phoned ahead, and Jean suggested it might be best to cancel, since the task might be better suited to professionals. Not to be deterred, we popped in to assess the situation, and resolved that we could certainly make a dent in the task.

Jean’s neighbours kindly gave us access to their garden, and we set to work cutting back the branches and bagging up the garden waste. 3 hours and a full 7 bin bags later, the view from Jean’s garden was significantly brighter. We certainly didn’t finish the job, but Jean was delighted with the result, and we certainly got a decent workout in. Jean assured us she’ll be telling others about GoodGym, so get your DBS checks completed since there will be more missions coming up!
