One of the good things about these Community Missions At the moment is that with only 6 of us allowed to attend, we can name check everyone in the run report! So, in alphabetical order: Abi, Amro, Frannie, Katherine, Rosemary and me all rocked up from our different directions at Craven Vale To meet Nick at 6.30 for a major overhaul of the front bed of his block of flats which he wanted to be cleared to make way for planting out something a bit more easy on the eye.

With a pretty decent set of tools (#Amrobrokeafork) we were able to get cracking and cleared the whole area in under an hour. As we did so, we uncovered a large community of snails (hence the title, which probably goes over the heads of most non-parents as it’s alluding to a well-known children’s story “The Snail and the Whale” by Julia “the Gruffalo” Donaldson. And if you haven’t heard of the Gruffalo, then I really can’t help you.

Anyway, the snails quickly (not that quickly) scarpered to find new shelter, and on completion of the job we celebrated with cans of fizzy pop, provided by Nick, while one of his neighbours kindly swept up after us. Next, Nick will be off to the garden centre soon to find something to plant in the beautiful open space we left behind.

I like running and biscuits. The more I run, the more biscuits I can eat.
