Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Gill (She/her)
It was a solo mission for me today, and Mrs J was hopeful that I would be able to get it done on my lonesome. But as every GoodGymer knows, we are never put off by a task no matter how small or large. Her back garden was not very big but she was upset that what had been her husband's pride and joy had fallen into neglect during his battle with Parkinson's and her difficulties with vertigo. She wanted to see the Hydrangeas stand out once again but felt they were overshadowed by the weeds around them. I soon got busy clearing the paved area, pulling up convolvulous, and trimming back brambles. There was trimming required round the edges and suckers from the plum tree to be tackled before the mowing could begin. I looked around to see a large pile of green waste that I had created and Mrs J helpfully held ope the black bin liner for me to fill. She looked at the space and was really overwhelmed. She said she would no be able to sit outside and enjoy the space once more. There are a few more bushes to cut back at the bottom of the garden and a few more weeds, but I felt I had made a really good start.
