Emily and Sevan were looking forward to a straight forward bin bag disposal mission on Sunday afternoon. It turned out that Emily's bike had a flat tyre though, so she'd be a bit late. Sevan called Mrs E to explain the 10 minute delay, then Mrs E said that she was looking forward to us taking away all of her waste in our van. She continued her train of thought for a while, until Sevan said

Stop! Let's go back and talk about that van

Sevan explain that there was no van. That he'd run there and Emily was taking the tube. Mrs E asked how they were planning to get rid of 25 black bags? "Household waste?" asked Sevan. Apparently there were only 2 small wheely bins outside. Hmm 🤔

Adapt

Emily arrived and Sevan explained the new info. Time for a plan B. Emily looked up and down the street, spotted a pub and thought they could ask if they could use the commercial waste bins. The supervisor was really friendly, but couldn't help.

Without a better plan, they decided to find out what was inside the flat. As they rang the bell, they saw that there was only one small black wheely bin that was half full already and 2 empty recycling bins.

Well, adapting didn't work, so they were back to plan A.

Execute

Once inside, Mrs E was very friendly and showed them the bin bags that she needed to have disposed. She explained that she wasn't able to go outside, had been bed bound for the last few months and was now finally starting to feel better. Looking around, there was no way that even half of the bags could be disposed of. The pair committed to 3, then Mrs E thrust a fourth towards them.

They discussed other help that GoodGym could offer Mrs E and she mentioned getting rid of some cardboard boxes. Well, thought Emily and Sevan, there are 2 empty recycling bins outside, so they could actually help with that. As they grabbed the boxes from the kitchen, Mrs E said that the kitchen bin needed to go out too. Gulp! Bag number 5!

After more chatting, Emily and Sevan ventured outside with the black bags and boxes, hoping to find that the black bins had a huge, Tardis-like capacity. Alas, that wasn't the case. The cardboard was easy, the refuse... wasn't. Only 2 bags would go in the black bin. They needed an ingenious plan. Instead, they snuck over to the neighbouring houses and dropped a bag into each, mostly empty bin. Job done.

No photos were taken, so you'll have to make do with a generic photo of refuse bags.

One of you has "van" in the name. Maybe Mrs E misheard something when talking to mission control 😆
