Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
4 runners ran around 5k, reorganised a garage, emptied a 1 tonne bag of soil, and discovered a number of priceless historical artefacts.
Glyndon Community Centre
This week we ran to Glyndon in Plumstead. We went there on a first week as Andy the coordinator has lots of tasks he hasn't been able to tackle for ages. Glyndon is a pretty corking community facility. They host a range of services for a wide range of local people, from 'Keep fit in retirement classes', to After School Play sessions. Unfortunately they don't offer rave fitness classes yet but I'm sure Andy wouldn't rule it out in the future!
a big fan of tidy garages
Andy's biggest job is sorting out the garage. Its stacked with stuff. If you can't find an item in Andy's shed you don't need it! Loads of fitness steps? Check. 100 Toddler stair guards? Check. Some Giant fans? Check. Bongo drums? Check. VHS player? Check. Childrens clothes? Check. Substandard oil painting of women in a blue dress? Check. Its got the lot.
It's bin a hard nights work
We are helping him chuck some stuff and organise the rest, and though it didnt seen like much at the time we did fill a big wheelie bin full of rubbish. Nice work.
it's soil we had time for
Andy also wanted us to amalgamate 3 big sacks of soil into 2. It looked simple, one sack was significantly smaller than the others. I thought we could simple 'lift and tip'. True to form I totally underestimated it and we had to call for the shovels to empty it.
home run
After we had emptied the sack there wasn't much time for the run so we set off at a brisk pace to the river path and along to Woolwich. We took a slight detour too (lost my bearings, sorry) but still made it back to Waterfront by 8.30pm. Bonza.
