Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This evening I skipped Camden's group run so that I could do a mission in Islington with Anne (🎉, but not-🎉, but 🎉...)
Tonight we were helping Ms J. Ms J suffers from a back condition and is unable to spend as much time gardening as she'd like. She recently had some help from GoodGym for her back garden, and asked if we could return to clear some brambles from her front garden.
Both Anne and I were pleased to see that the front garden was, while excessively brambly, also very small. We consequently rang the doorbell with a confident, almost smug air, and were greeted very warmly by Ms J (obviously the last GoodGymmers had left a good impression! 😄👍).
After exchanging pleasantries and retrieving tools from the shed, Anne and I got started. We settled into distinct roles very harmoniously: Anne stayed inside the fence, cutting down brambles and chucking them carefully over the fence in my general direction. I stayed outside the fence cutting up the off-cuts and putting them into some bin bags. I always love how complementary mission mates are like this (I also like it when they're complimentary too, but these often go hand-in-hand 😎👍).
With a natural order established, Anne and I worked for just under 90 minutes before we were finished. In the process, we generated 4 bags of brambles and chatted almost constantly about pronunciations we've had to change to fit in with the English and... how we're not people that need to talk constantly 😅
Ms J was very pleased with our work, and we were sorry to not to be able to take her up on her offer of tea and cakes (I was off to Camden for GG 10th birthday celebrations, and so couldn't stop 😋 (sorry Anne! 😅)) We could tell that Ms J is obviously very house proud, so hopefully having the front garden done will let her feel more comfortable about having people over.
It was lovely working with you, Anne! 😄
