On a blustery Saturday morning, with the sea breeze whispering of stories past, the GoodGymer laced up their trainers, clipped on their helmet, and tucked a bulging stack of brightly coloured beer mats into their backpack. Each mat was a QR code—inviting Pompey locals to jot down their tales, memories, and mischief for a new community art project aiming to capture the spirit of Portsmouth, one pint at a time. First stop: The Dolphin, where the bartender gave a wink and said, “Hope these stories make a splash.” Then off to The Raven, where the GoodGymer swore they heard a mysterious “nevermore” echo as they left the mats fluttering near the till.

Down a cobbled lane, they arrived at The Pembroke, where a couple of old regulars promised to write about the night the jukebox caught fire—but swore it wasn’t their fault.

A quick cycle to Scott’s, and the GoodGymer grinned as the barmaid joked, “Better beer mats than beer goggles, eh?”

Next came The Kings Tavern, where the GoodGymer declared, “Let the people speak!” The bartender replied, “Long live the stories!”

At The Barley Mow, a friendly dog tried to steal a mat—“Guess even the pups have tales to tell,” they laughed.

The GoodGymer reached The Three Mariners, where a sea shanty broke out as the locals pledged to write their wildest boat-party memories.

The sun shone as they jogged toward The Nell Gwynn, where an elderly patron shared, “My first kiss was in this very pub. It deserves a beer mat, don’t you think?”

The Alchemists was next, with its steampunk flair and bubbling cocktails. “We’ll turn these words into gold,” the owner said, already brainstorming.

And finally, with legs aching but spirits high, the GoodGymer made their way to The Old Customs House, where the team promised to collect every tale like treasure from the dockside of memory.

Beer mats delivered, heart full, and Portsmouth’s story just beginning, the GoodGymer jogged home with a promise: Every pint tells a story. Let’s raise a glass to Pompey.
