This evening we were at Brookwood Station digging out some planters and the platforms and putting in new plants ready for spring.

Wayne, Anne, Katie, Alys, got the station early and the station was quite busy with cars parked outside picking up passengers, Anne, Katie and Alys ran from Knaphill, while Wayne had already done a 6k loop of Brookwood.

Holly arrived shortly after with the tools and plants as well as two bags of soil. 🪴 Katie & Anne picked up the tools with Alys picking up the plants Wayne thought he would have a little work out and put both bags of soil on his shoulders we then headed through the station to the platform.

Once at the planters we set to work pulling out the weeds and leaves from plater number 1 and digging out the big rosemary bush which proved a little tricky Anne just up on the planter and with excellent balance and a fork in hand got stuck in with Katie digging around the other side once loose Wayne with his shovel hands pulled it out, we then got one of the bags of soil and filled up the planter spreading it out evenly.

Alys and Holly then started to plant the Lupins and Daliahs strategically in the planter while they were doing this Wayne Katie and Anne moved over to planter number 2 and did the same as before removing the weeds and leaves and then getting stuck in to remove the big rosemary bush, this one was particularly stubborn but with team work and brute strength pulled it out, then got 2nd soil bag and spread it all around with more plants being put in.

Conversation then went to food as a few of us were very hungry, sounded like everyone’s evening meals were delicious 😋

The planters did look very impressive We then collected up the tools and rosemary bush’s and headed back to the station entrance where we began working on the bedding. We started pulling out the weeds just then James and Adam arrived they had run from Woking about 6k James looked shattered and had a little sit down, but not for to long they got right to it and started pulling out the weeds and leaves and general tidy up, they started telling us about their run along the canal and how they came across an army of frogs 🐸 along the towpath and how Adam was doing a kind of dance as he was avoiding to step on them 😂.

Once we had cleared the bedding we packed the tools away into Hollys car 🚙 we then had a chat about possibly next weeks task which could be dropping off leaflets keep an eye on the GG Page.

We said our good bye’s and headed home…👋🏻

This Sunday we require volunteer's for the Junior Park Run if you are available sign up and also email the park run team….

Have a great rest of the week everyone…😄
