Despite forecasts of impending rain, it was all sunshine and great running news to kick off our GoodGym run last night!

  • A big cheer goes to Ms Remy who took on another marathon in Edinburgh this weekend - there's no stopping her!

  • Well done to running machine Andy who earned himself a new PB at the Vitality 10k on Monday - fantastic job!

  • There's a GoodGym parkrun takeover this weekend in Dulwich - if you fancy lending your time and joining in with marshalling, pacing or any other jobs, then sign up here

Big Newt-ons

After a warm up and a discussion about our favourite month of the year (sorry guys, I was really scraping the barrel there...) we set off for our second week at Cavendish Primary School where we have been helping create some wildlife areas and kitchen gardens.

We are so lucky to be able to run through the beautiful Chiswick House grounds on our way (more on that later - we're back next week!) so we took it at a nice steady pace and arrived in good time armed with codes. Only to find that it was touch pad entry. Ooops. A little more investigation got us to the right gate, and it was straight into action stations. While a digging group went off to tackle the newly cleared areas which are going to be turned into little gardens, the second group headed to the soon-to-be dipping pond.

This area was seriously overgrown, and before it can be turned into a lovely area for the kids to use, a pathway to the pond needed to be cleared and the leaves needed to be raked out of the water. It wasn't long before the team had perfected the art of leaf/smush collection, and had even discovered some cute little newts in the process. Let's just hope they're not the protected variety!

After 40 minutes of hard work, we had a photo by the rainbow wall (trying to create a rainbow arch ourselves with varying levels of success - check out the photos) and then headed off to Chiswick House again to our fitness session.

This involved trying to fit in incrementally increasing burpees and a press ups in a set 45 second space. Starts off easy, ends up blimming hard. We finished off the night with our plank minute and a run back to base.

Next week we're running back to the beautiful Chiswick House to help out in their beautiful gardens - volunteering here means that this space can be kept free for everybody. Sign up here . Until then, have a happy week everybody.
