This week GG Barnet was faced with a last minute change of plan, as our oringal task with Community Focus was paused until the days get a little longer. The team was hoping for an 8km run today and ended up doing just 4km, but with Heather completing a 20 mile run in the morning and everyone generally feeling quite tired, it turned out the 4km run was perfect. It's funny how some distance can make everything seem small.

After a quick warm up by the Phoenix Damian lead us to a nearby estate where we delivered leaflets for Barnet Furniture Centre. We've helped the BFC a couple of times, and with a big box of flyers left over from last time, it was the perfect back-up task.

As per usual, the team blasted through the flyer relay with expert precision. Not a stone was left unturned as everyone combed the flats for letter boxes and soon enough we'd completed the task in record time and even stumbled upon a wonderful little patch of green to do some training. Heather requested strength-building work, which is always my favourite; so we started with some sprints up a tiny hill and burpees, followed by some walking lunges and runners' lunges. Phil and Graham both made wonderful light holders so the team could see my beautiful demonstrations.

The main lesson from this exercise was that everyone should do more lunges.

After a quick photoshoot under a lamppost we headed back to base. After doing lots of lunges myself this afternoon, I've never been more aware of how uphill that allyway back to the Phoenix trully is!

Join us on Wednesday 15 March for our GG Barnet movie night. If you are one of the 12 people who have come to 10 or more sessions, you'll get a free pass. If you're not, you're obviously still welcome to join us! If you do not know if you are one of the people, ask me and I'll check for you =]

Next week we will be running back to Archer Academy to continue work on the pond. Sign up here. This is a really great project and a very short run. Be great if you could join us! Last time our fitness session was a game of football on the astroturff with Maaike, the science teacher in charge of the project. Lots of fun to be had and good to be done.

And don't forget to bring a friend. You both get limited edition GG laces, you both do good and you both get fit. AND YOU BOTH GET TO HANG OUT WITH US. There are so many wins in the scenario, you'd be silly to miss out.

Barnet Biscuit of the Week: Oreos + chocolate-coated wafers.

See you next week! Pennie
