Junior parkrunners and their Heart Eights!

Cardiff Junior parkrun celebrated their eighth birthday today!

Michael and Flo were also joined by GoodGym friend Deb to help support the usual core junior parkrun team.

Cardiff Junior parkrun wanted to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly with their celebrations, so in the place of balloons and other single-use items every runner whose finish token ended in an '8' was presented with a packet of sunflower seeds, in the hope that we will be gifted throughout the year of photos of them growing.

Michael was marshaling, as was Deb, and Flo as funnel manager had the duty to hand out the sunflower seeds. The number 88 finisher received two packets for their achievement.

143 runners took part today. 16 were first-timers, 27 got PBs, 3 runners achieved their half marathon wristbands, 1 runner achieved their marathon wristband and 2 runners achieved their ultra-marathon wristbands. This really highlights the importance of helping out with junior parkrun and volunteering in general.
