Our community mission on this sunny day was to help set up for Chiswick’s Super Saturday of Sport at Turnham Green, our usual planking hotspot.

The aim of the event is to help people of all ages find their active passion by connecting them with clubs and activities in their community, and they do so by running taster sessions, displays and demonstrations for a whole array of different sports. A perfect opportunity for us to don our red t-shirts and lend a hand at the lovely green space amongst the trees!

On arrival we were welcomed by the lovely event organiser Sarah, who set us to work on a variety of tasks. Dave, Luis and Sam set up flags around different areas of the green, Adam did a brilliant job setting up, and testing, the all-important megaphone (on the weekly run wish-list for sure!) and Michelle, Amanda and Remy set about attaching running orders to all the trees, fences and any other spaces they could find!

We were then joined by Eloise, Matt and Mike who had all sacrificed their weekly Parkrun to help the local community – much appreciated!

Now the group was complete, and the delivery vehicles had departed, it was time to set up the seating area. We were directed by the lovely Jenny of Christ Church W4 to carry, set up and position the tables, followed by enough chairs for the visitors who were soon to enjoy the local produce from the yummy food stalls. Going the extra mile, Michelle even set up a little reading circle next to the book stall for keen bookworms – so cute.

Content with our chair to table ratio, we then went around each of the remaining stalls to offer our help whilst spreading the GoodGym word!

Afterwards it was time for a well-deserved coffee, some post-task snacks (thanks Michelle!) and a chat on the green where we caught up on all things GoodGym; getting the low down on Ealing thanks to our newbie Sam, praising our dear leader Ana (we missed you!) and discussing our recent tasks (and local pub visits) in and around Hounslow.

Just when we thought our work was done, Amanda, Eloise, Matt and Sam were all called to put up signs to help the locals navigate the event and the all-important facilities! Extra pat on the back :)

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning, doing good, getting fit and in good company – thanks and well done everyone!

On to the next community mission, Taskforce ASSEMBLE! #GGHounslow
