15 runners came out on what threatened to be a rainy evening (but thankfully stayed dry!) to help out with some community loved ponies.
We welcomed two brand new GoodGymers with Yvonna and Sevan joining us for their first run, hope you enjoyed your first outing but I can’t promise ponies every week!
We started with a warm up and the group are obviously feeling festive already as we chatted through our favourite Christmas films. Lots of Die Hard fans out there, and yes, it IS a Christmas film!
So after a lovely 3km run through the back streets of Ealing we arrived in Hanwell to find the pony paddock ready to be cleared of pesky leaves. The ponies were owned by a local older lady who can sadly no longer care for them and so in comes the community. They are now loved and cared for by local residents and have become a much loved community asset in Hanwell. The paddock overlooks a residential area so everyone can enjoy them! The leaves at this time of year are a big job so that’s where we come in, 15 of us would have this done in no time!
No horsing around
Well maybe a little, after all we wanted to help but really we all wanted a chance to see those lovely little ponies. So once everyone got a chance to go inside the stable for a quick pet we got down to business, raking and stuffing bags left, right and centre!
Head torches beaming, conversations flowing and a quite delightful festive backdrop made the time fly by and before knew it four massive rubble bags were filled and the paddock was looking a lot clearer. Great work team!
A lovely run back, a nice stretch and a reminder about our last run of the year and Christmas party (sign up now!) on 17th December and that was a wrap for the evening.
See you all next time!
