The slight venue change due to task owner illness didn't phase our hardy GoodGymers and we went to Searchlight tonight instead of the British Heart Foundation shop. A loop of Fairfield and up Bonner Hill Road got our blood pumping and after 3km we made it to the venue. A warm welcome to our newest recruit Tara on her first task out!

Tonight's main task was to hack back the long grass and brambles that had grown over the winter months and tidy up the beds by the road. We all got stuck straight in with secateurs and loppers to attack the things that then started to attack us. Thistles, thorns and burrs didn't stand a chance, however, and we chopped them back and then transported them over with a wheelbarrow to create a compost pile. An hour spent well and we finished the job in hand much to Peter's delight.

Tom and I checked in on the planting bed and the daffodils look amazing under the rainbow mural. Our earlier planting session there a few months ago really paid off - give it a couple more weeks and we expect even more colour in the garden. Can't wait to see it.

After the task, some of us popped to The Albion for refreshments and we all agreed to start up a first Tuesday of the month social. Hope to see you next month!
