Ms S and her neighbours have spent years turning a patch of grass into a lovely community garden. But it's no longer possible for her to keep up with some of the bigger tasks. So Anne and I spent a lovely morning digging some borders and space for new plants to go in in the spring. We had a delightful time chatting to Ms S and learning about the amazing life she's had. Over the flower beds, and later over some lovely tea and cake, we shared experiences about family, cultural backgrounds, acceptance, diversity, stories about growing up in different parts of the world, and how we each find community and connection in London. It was a joyful morning, and it felt like we got at least as much out of meeting the inspirational Ms S as she did from our gardening.
