Flour power

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.

I spoke to Mrs O's granddaughter before setting off for the shops and she gave me the list. She said Mrs O was really keen to get some flour because neither the council nor Sainsbury's had been able to provide any, and she really likes to make her own bread. I wasn't feeling overly hopeful given the empty baking shelves at most supermarkets. I tried a few places and managed to get the rest of the items but still no flour. In some desperation I noticed a Polish delicatessen and went in to ask if they had any flour, fully expecting them to shrug ruefully as the other shopkeepers had done. Instead the lady led me through to a veritable Aladdin's cave of flour! I deciphered the Polish packaging and managed to get both plain and bread flour which I took triumphantly to Mrs O who seemed very pleased. Hopefully she will be able to bake some good bread!
