Today I met up with Beth for a mission in Camden for Ms S (I like to say, two girls, one name, two diminutives (or monikers, nicknames or cognomens, depending on how I feel in the moment)).

This was a repeat visit for Beth, having originally gone to visit Ms S just a few months ago to help out in her garden (details here), and she was looking forward to seeing how "her" plants were doing.

After saying hello to Ms S, we got started. First task on the agenda was to build a bird feeder. After building a fence yesterday, Beth and I were confident that we could handle a little flat pack. It's true, however, that good tools are a must, and we struggled in driving the bottom stake far enough into the ground to be adequately stable. Although Ms S had a hammer, we were reluctant to use it on the bottom part in case it damaged the thread needed for connecting it to the next part of the bird feeder. Thankfully, there was a small extending piece of the feeder that Ms S didn't want to use, and Beth had the great idea of screwing it into the bottom part and hammering that part instead to drive the stake into the ground. That worked perfectly (albeit damaging the thread on the extending portion, which didn't really matter since it wasn't going to be used). Once the bottom stake was in, we were in business and we finished up fairly quickly.

Next on the agenda was to plant a few bulbs and dig some holes ready for Ms S to do some more planting in a few weeks. Beth did all of this while I chatted to Ms S while she stroked my arm in exactly the same way that my nan strokes my arm while chatting (I always end up with the best parts on a task 😎 #smug)

Our last job was to take down a couple of hanging baskets for Ms S. Both of us being a bit too short to do this, I popped indoors and took it down via the window while Beth helped coordinate from the garden.

Ms S was very happy with our work and invited us for some tea. Unfortunately we couldn't stay, as Beth was off to band practice and I was off to another mission. Hopefully we can stay a bit longer next time though! 😄😎
